GMCH has 43 patients with fungal infection

Aurangabad, May
20:
Several patients
recovered from the Corona infection are complaining of fungal infection in the
post Covid phase. The patients are suffering from the fungal disease like
mucormycosis. These patients are also reported in the city. Presently, 43 such
patients are being treated at the Government Medical College and Hospital
(GMCH) while 13 patients have died, informed the GMCH administration.
Mucormycosis is caused by the fungus in the
atmosphere. This disease is not new for the doctors and earlier the patients of
this disease were reported. However, after getting recovered from Corona
infection, the patients suffer this disease due to the less immunity and
increase in the blood sugar level. However, this disease can be brought under
control completely if diagnosed in the early stages.
These 43
patients of fungal infection are being treated in ward No. 12 in GMCH. Ample
amount of medicines and injections are available from the treatment, informed
dean Dr Kanan Yelikar.
