The Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) administration finally woke from the deep slumber and rectified the discrepancies in the neonatal ward. On Sunday, the old fire extinguishing cylinder was replaced with the new one while directives were issued to the PWD to make a plan within two days to rectify the discrepancies in the construction of the surgical building and the electrification.
In the wake of the recent accident in the neo-natal ward in Bhadara district, the inspection of the surgical building was done at the GMCH. Very astonishing facts come to the fore during the inspection. Lokmat Times had published a report in this regard. A team including Dr L S Deshmukh, Dr Amol Joshi, Dr Atul Londhe, medical deputy superintendent Dr Priti Birajdar and the PWD engineers inspected the surgical building, neo-natal department and pediatrics department. The electric wires in the department were checked and were found in good condition, the engineers reported. Still, the condition of the electric wires in other departments will be checked. The old fire extinguishing cylinders was replaced with new one. Planning is also being made to give training to the employees regarding the safety measures.
Dean, Dr Kanan Yelikar said, a report has been asked from the PWD regarding the condition of the electrification and construction within two days. Accordingly, changes will be made if necessary. Earlier, the fire audit was conducted but it will be conducted once again, she said.
