Govt polytechnic launches Artificial Intelligence course; 2nd institute in State to get AICTE nod

Aurangabad, July 12:

Government Polytechnic of the city has launched a new diploma course ‘Artificial Intelligence (AI)’, considering its demand in the job market.

It may be noted AI is an emerging field in the digital age. Aspirants of engineering now prefer new courses which are in demand in the job market.

Considering the requirement of students, Government Polytechnic sent a proposal ‘AI’ diploma course to the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). The council granted permission to launch the course recently.

Only two Government polytechnics- Nagpur and Aurangabad received a nod for the new course. The intake capacity of the new course is 30.

Government Polytechnic was declared autonomous in 1994. The National Board of Accreditation (NBA) has given accreditation to it.

Polytechnic principal Dr F A Khan said that AI course contains ‘use of AI in machine learning, data analysis, enhancing efficiency in the industrial sector through AI, use of AI in the medical field, automatic vehicles, electricity generation in the industrial sector, e-commerce, law and judiciary and farming.

A team of the polytechnic comprising Madhuri Ganorkar, D S Sonawne, Dr R T Pachkore, Dr M A Ali, J P Joshi, P S Hiwale worked for the preparation and submission of the course proposal to the AICTE.

Director of Technical Education Dr Abhay Wagh, joint-director (Aurangabad region) Mahesh Shivankar, encouraged the team for the proposal.
