Celebrating 44 years of tradition: Programme by Uttar Bharat Sangh

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: On the auspicious occasion of Vijayadashami, a 44-year-old tradition came to life as the Ravana Dahan was held on Tuesday evening at the N-7 Ramlila ground, amidst a massive gathering of devotees. The air resonated with chants of ‘Prabhu Shri Ramchandra Ki Jai’ and ‘Ayodhyapati Ramchandra Ki Jai.’

For four decades, the Uttar Bharat Sangh has organized the Ravana Dahan event at the N-7 Ramlila ground in Cidco. union minister of state for finance Dr Bhagwat Karad, state housing minister Atul Save, and MLA Haribhau Bagde were present. The event drew a large number of citizens who came to witness the grand spectacle of Ravana's effigy being set ablaze. NK Gupta, Shekhar Desarda, Arvind Machhar, Omiram Patel and others were present.

The ritualistic Ravana Dahan

The statues of Ravana standing at 60 and Meghnad at 55 feet tall, were set ablaze amidst traditional drum beats and a dazzling display of fireworks, illuminating the ground. The expertly crafted Ravana and Meghnad statues were created by artisans from Uttar Pradesh, incurring a cost of approximately Rs 3.5 lakh for their construction.

Maratha reservation protests

During the event, members of the Maratha Mawla organization raised slogans advocating for Maratha reservation while the ministers were addressing the crowd. The slogans disrupted the minister's speech, leading to the removal of the protesters by the organizers.

Giant Ravana effigy burnt in Bajajnagar

A 61-feet giant effigy of Ravana was burnt in Bajajnagar on Vijayadashami with spectacular fireworks. union minister of finance Dr Bhagwat Karad burned the effigy on Ramlila ground at around 8.30 pm. Thousands of people who were present at the ground chanted Jai Shri Ram as the area was lit up with colorful firecrackers. This spectacular ceremony of Ravana Dahan was captured by many in mobile cameras. Citizens from Bajajnagar, Waluj, Ranjangaon, Cidco, South City, Pandharpur and Golwadi were present. RK Singh, Adv NN Singh, Narendra Yadav, Anil Chordia, Arjun Adamane and others were present.
