High-tech campaigning for GP election

Aurangabad, Jan 2:

Taking advantage of the new technology, candidates contesting the Gram Panchayat (GP) polls have started publicity on social media. The candidates are leaving no stone unturned for gaining dominance over other candidates and improving their image among voters.

Since the GP elections have been announced, political campaigning has gained momentum. Office bearers of various political parties have formed a strong front to establish dominance over the economically viable GPs in Waluj industrial area. This year several candidates have filed nomination papers leading to an increase in the number of candidates. At present, capable and wealthy candidates are trying their best to get the upper hand over other candidates and make them withdraw from the election arena. As December 4 is the last date for withdrawal of candidature applications, many are trying to make other candidates withdraw their nomination using any means possible.

Hi-tech campaigning on social media

Although the real picture of the election will be clear after the withdrawal of nomination papers, most of the candidates have started campaigning on social media. Taking advantage of the latest technology, candidates have started promoting themselves on WhatsApp groups, Facebook page and Instagram. The candidates are trying to woo the voters by promising them development and better facilities. Opposition candidates are being ridiculed on social media. Even well-informed voters seem to be responding to candidates promises. Overall, candidates from all political parties have started their high-tech campaigns on social media.
