Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:

Seven years ago, there was a groundbreaking ceremony, followed by announcements, grand plans, concept designs, and promises… but in reality, the old bus stand still remains at the site. The question now being raised by passengers and citizens alike is, when will the proposed bus port at the Cidco bus stand move beyond just ‘concept designs’?

Despite the need to wake up the authorities, the entire project remains stalled due to the pending ‘building permission’. This delay has intensified public dissatisfaction.

The much-awaited bus port project, planned at the site of the Cidco bus stand, had its foundation stone laid on August 28, 2019. Now, even in 2026, actual work has yet to begin. To accelerate the project, there were plans to shift the bus stand to the Chikalthana Central Workshop by the end of November. However, as the required building permission from the municipal corporation has not been granted, the plan has remained only on paper.

As a result, the relocation process has been delayed. There were also discussions that passengers might have to catch buses from Mukundwadi Chowk in the future. However, neither has the relocation taken place nor has construction begun. The entire project remains stuck in ‘waiting mode’.

‘Building permission’ still pending

According to Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) divisional controller Pramod Nehul, the project is awaiting building permission from the municipal corporation.
