Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:
An identification parade of the BJP’s 57 corporators was held in the presence of divisional commissioner Jitendra Papalkar. After each corporator signed before the commissioner, the BJP’s group registration process was completed. As of now, AIMIM and other parties have not completed their group registration. Since the deadline is February 15, Papalkar expressed confidence that they would complete the process in the coming days.
City BJP President Kishor Shitole and group leader Govind Kendre had instructed all corporators to report to the commissioner’s office at 3 pm. Accordingly, some corporators arrived on time, while others took one to one-and-a-half hours to reach the office.
Meanwhile, the election decision authorities had not provided photocopies of the winning certificates. As the original certificates had to be submitted at the commissioner’s office and the corporators wanted copies for their own records, Sameer Rajurkar and Shivaji Dandge had to make special efforts to obtain photocopies of all 57 certificates. After the group registration process was completed at around 6 pm, all corporators left the divisional commissioner’s office.
Group registration is crucial for securing membership and chairmanship in various municipal corporation committees. Without group registration, corporators are not officially eligible to be appointed to any committee. The commissioner also stated that the registration of all newly elected corporators from municipal corporations across the Marathwada region has been completed.
Mayor’s nomination to be filed today
BJP city president Kishor Shitole said, “Friday is the last day for filing nomination papers for the post of mayor. The candidate’s nomination will be filed as per the party’s directions. Nomination papers for both the mayor and deputy mayor posts will be submitted.”
