Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:

City squares and circles will soon be beautified on the lines of Indore, said Anil Makariye, the newly elected chairman of the Standing Committee of the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Municipal Corporation (CSMC), on Monday.

Makariye paid a courtesy visit to the office of Lokmat Media Group. Rajendra Darda, Editor-in-Chief of Lokmat, welcomed him with a shawl and bouquet. Executive Director Karan Darda and senior members of the editorial team were also present.

Speaking on the occasion, Makariye said, “ Devendra Fadnavis has assured that funds for the city’s development will not fall short. With the support of the OBC Welfare minister Atul Save, efforts will be made to secure funds from both the Central and State governments under various schemes. Planning has already begun to beautify major city squares on the lines of Indore. While undertaking road development works, special attention will be given to improving road dividers; beautification of public gardens and launching a tax collection drive to strengthen CSMC’s financial position.”

Makariye further said that strict action will be taken to remove encroachments obstructing roads in the city. Several crematoriums currently lack adequate facilities, and priority will be given to their renovation.

“ The civic administration is fully prepared to stabilise the city’s water supply within the next two months,” he stressed.

Toilets for women

The standing committee chairman also said that the construction of public lavatories for women at key locations across the city will be prioritised, and the facility will be provided free of cost for women.
