Aurangabad, April 3:

The number of doctors and health workers is proving insufficient for treating the increased number of patients. The death toll has also risen in the last few days. As a result, there is insufficient manpower for handling and final disposal of dead bodies of Covid-19 victims. Thus bodies remain lying in the wards for 7 to 8 hours. Hence the GMCH is trying to find the manpower to manage the system.

The number of corona patients in Aurangabad has increased significantly in the last few weeks. In all these cases, the number of patients admitted to the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) in critical condition has increased. There was also an increase in patient mortality. On average, 25 to 30 patients die every day. The increased rate of deaths has affected the work of handling and packing dead bodies. As a result, bodies remain lying in the wards for 7 to 8 hours. According to GMCH administration, there is an additional strain on the organization currently handling the dead bodies of covid patients. Therefore, the help of new organizations has been sought for packing the bodies. Manpower will be made available for the work. Likewise, the district civil hospital has also recruited two NGOs for handling the corpses said district surgeon Dr Sundar Kulkarni.
