Mahatma Phule is Father of Constructivism: Dr Govind Nandede

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: Senior educationist and former Director of Education Dr Govind Nandede asserted that Mahatma Jyotiba Phule is the true father of the concept of Constructivism, the philosophy of building knowledge through education and a scientific outlook. He was speaking at a special lecture organised on Saturday at Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University on the occasion of Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Jayanti.

He noted that while the entire world in the 19th century was focused on higher education, Savitribai and Mahatma Phule sowed the seeds of primary education among the Bahujan community.

Vice-Chancellor Dr Vijay Fulari presided over the event. Registrar Dr Prashant Amritkar, Director of Mahatma Phule Pratishthan Dr Anand Ubale, and Student Welfare Board Director Dr Kailas Ambhure were also present. Dr Ubale delivered the introductory speech, Dr Yuvraj Sutar conducted the proceedings, and Vitthal Chopade proposed the vote of thanks. VC Dr Fulari also addressed the gathering.
