Aurangabad, June 16:

A meeting will be held on Thursday in Mumbai at the water resource department to discuss the Rs 45,000 crore Marathwada water grid project, sources said. Engineers and officials of the Maharashtra Jeevan Pradhikaran and Godavari Marathwada Irrigation Development Corporation will be present for the meeting.

As per sources, no important decision has been taken regarding Marathwada water grid project for the past 19 months. An Israeli company has completed the work of the DPR from Rs 22 crore. The water required for agriculture, drinking and industry has been planned in the grid. The BJP-Shiv Sena alliance government had claimed that Rs 10,595 crore had been sanctioned for this work in the first phase. The scheme is to supply overflowing water from dams in Nashik, Jayakwadi, Ujani, Yeldari, Siddheshwar, Vishnupuri, Soni Kolegaon, Majalgaon, Nimna Terna, Nimna Manmad, Isapur and Penganga through a pipeline and supply the water to drought affected regions.
