Aurangabad, June 15:

If all goes well, the oxygen plant proposed by the Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) at Meltron Covid Care Centre will start functioning after 15 days. The plant is being set up on PSA (Pressure Swing Adsorption) Technology.

The centre comprises of 300-beds. Of which, 50 per cent of beds are equipped with oxygen facilities for serious Covid patients. The AMC faced a severe shortage of oxygen during the last year. According to reliable sources," The AMC and agency's officials had a meeting regarding the operation of plant today. The agency officials assured of starting the plant in 15 days. Presently, a capacity of 800 litres of oxygen will be produced per day. It equals 1700 cylinders daily. The generators are on verge of installation. Besides, the AMC has also received a security deposit of Rs 2 lakh from the agency."

As reported earlier, the AMC had issued a work order to the contractor (agency) for establishing the plant generating 20 kilolitres (KL) of oxygen in the last week of February, this year. The estimated cost of the project is Rs 4.5 crore. Besides, the district collector has issued a letter granting fund for the project in the third week of February 2021. The generation of oxygen will be done in phases, it is learnt.
