Mixed reactions for Sarpanch reservation in Waluj

Aurangabad, Jan 29:

With the release of new reservation for the post of Sarpanch, mixed reactions were being witnessed in Waluj. The change in reservations has come as a shock to the incumbents, who are vying for the Sarpanch post, and new political equations are expected to emerge.

Elections for 21-gram panchayats (GP) in Waluj industrial area have been held recently and the results have also been declared. Candidates are doing their best to rule wealthy GPs of Ranjangaon, Waluj, Jogeshwari, Pandharpur, Waladgaon, Tisgaon, Narayanpur and other GPs in this area. However, the cancellation of the previously announced reservation for the Sarpanch post had left the contenders in a daze. After the announcement of the results of the GP elections, the wealthy candidates had devised a strategy to seize power by calculating the possibility of reservation for Sarpanch posts. In order to prevent any double-cross in the elections, the parties had sent their candidates on a picnic. GP members from Waluj and Jogeshwari had left for an unknown place after the results.

Changing the reservation shocked the incumbents

The reservation for the Sarpanch post was released on Friday. The reservation in Waluj, Narayanpur, Pandharpur, Tisgaon, Jogeshwari, and Waladgaon has changed. The new reservation draw has angered strong contenders but has created an atmosphere of happiness among those who are not in the race for the Sarpanch post.

New reservations as follows:

Waluj GP (open category women), Ranjangaon Shenpunji, Pandharpur, Tisgaon (OBC women), Jogeshwari, Waladgaon (OBC male), Ambelohal (SC women). With the change in the reservation draw for the Sarpanch, new political equations are now expected to emerge, according to political experts.
