Aurangabad, March 24:

The police superintendent office special investigation team (SIT) chief inquired MLA Prashant Bamb for four hours in embezzlement of Rs 15,75,33,338 of the Gagapur Sugar Factory. However, the investigating officer was not satisfied with this inquiry, and hence the inquiry will be conducted once again, the sources said.

Krishna Patil Dongaonkar lodged a complaint about the embezzlement of the funds of the members of the factory amounting Rs 15,75,33,338, and accordingly, a case was registered at the Gangapur police station on November 18, 2020. Later, the police arrested a woman accused in this matter but was later released after the pressure on the police.

MLA, Prashant Bamb, is the main accused in this case, and hence, superintendent of police, Mokshada Patil set up an SIT led by IPS officer Gorakh Bhamre on February 4. The SIT started collecting evidence since then. Today, MLA Prashant Bamb was called for inquiry at the superintendent of police office at 12 noon. He was inquired for around 4 hours. He had brought some documents related to the case. However, the police were not satisfied with the inquiry, and hence he will be called again, the sources said.

Meanwhile, not a single arrest was made in this case for the past four months. Earlier, the investigation was done by Gangapur police station and later was handed over to the economic crime cell and a SIT was also established. Accordingly, MLA Bamb was investigated today.
