The possibility of a second wave of corona is being speculated. But citizens have no reason to panic. The municipal administration is ready to tackle any situation as all necessary infrastructure and workforce are available with sufficient stock of medicines municipal administrator Astik Kumar Pandey said on Tuesday.

Pandey said, about 4,000 beds have been arranged from Covid Care Centers (CCC) in the city. Dedicated Covid health centres have around 2,000 beds. Doctors, staff nurses, ward boys had been appointed to provide medical services to the citizens during corona infection. The appointments would be valid till the end of January 30 and would not be discontinued. Giving the combined information of Aurangabad district, Pandey said that there are 544 ICU beds in the district, out of which 523 beds are vacant at present. There are 209 ventilators available out of which 199 ventilators are empty. There are 1,755 oxygen beds. Out of which 1,707 beds are vacant. There are 6,744 beds in CCCs in the district. Out of them, 6,704 beds are empty. So the necessary infrastructure is ready, and there is no shortage of manpower. Medicine and oxygen are also in sufficient quantity. Also, there are 26,470 PPE kits, 68,000 N-95 masks available. RT-PCR test kits are also adequate, and now 90 per cent of the tests will be conducted on the RTPCR method. He said it would no longer be possible to test citizens coming from outstations through vehicles. Tests are being carried out at the airport and railway station.
