Akira Kando, head of Japan’s largest Buddhist organisation Happy Science, said the mission is to spread the joyful and scientific truth of Gautama Buddha across 187 countries and asserted that the world will eventually realise there is no alternative to Buddha.
He was speaking on the fourth day of the five-day Global Dhamma Conference at Vishwashanti Buddha Vihar, Bhim Tekdi, near Jatwada. The session was inaugurated on Sunday by Pune-based advocate Ranjana Bhosale and presided over by a Dhamma Sevak. Welcome president Bhadant Khemadhammo, organiser Bhikkhuni Dhammadarsana Mahatheri, prof Bhante Satyapal and Bhikkhu Sangha members from India and abroad were present.
The pandal was packed with male and female devotees, while monks and nuns from various countries attended. Kando noted that Happy Science, founded by Master Ryuho Okawa, aims to create an enlightened world. Discourses were delivered by Sri Lanka’s Arya Dhammnanda and Myanmar’s Arya Dr. Dhammasari. Proceedings were conducted by Core Committee president Dr. Arvind Gaikwad. Sulabha Dhotre, niece of Mata Ramai Ambedkar, was felicitated. Vice presidents Anil Baste, Manik Dhakarge, Sanjay Dongre, Sunil Khandare, Bharat Shinde, Chandradas Patil, Ravindra Kamble and Raju Jumde are leading organisational efforts. The conference concludes Monday evening with Dhamma discourses and enlightenment programmes. The third session featured ‘Bhim Stuti’ Bharatanatyam by Dr. Sameeksha Gaikwad, ‘Jaymangal Atthagatha’ Kathak by Gayatri Waghmare, Bhagyashree Banait and Akanksha Pawar from Pune, and a musical performance by Nagpur’s Bhim Bhaskara troupe, all receiving enthusiastic applause.
