No entry for passengers in ST depots; security audit from Monday

Passengers will no longer be allowed inside State Transport (ST) depots to secure seats before departure, as authorities tighten security measures. Only ST staff will have access to depots, with strict monitoring in place.

Following the recent security lapse at Pune’s Swargate depot, the ST Corporation has ordered an immediate security audit of all bus stations and depots across Maharashtra. Starting Monday, officials will inspect security arrangements, assess the adequacy of guards, identify cluttered areas, and check for encroachments within bus stations.

Enhanced security measures

Security personnel have intensified patrolling at bus stations, and police assistance will be sought if necessary. Entry restrictions will be enforced to ensure only authorized personnel have access. Guards will be stationed at depot entrances, additional streetlights will be installed in poorly lit areas, and CCTV surveillance will be strengthened to enhance monitoring.
