The inauguration of the National Service Scheme (NSS) Special Camp organised by Maharashtra Institute of Technology (MIT), Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, was held at Balapur village. This camp is being conducted from March 17 to 23.
Dr. Nilesh Patil, Director of MIT, presided over the inaugural ceremony. The event was also graced by the presence of the District Coordinator of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University (Bamu) and NSS representative Dnyaneshwar Pathrikar, Balapur Sarpanch Neeta Girhe, and special guest Dr Prashant Awasarmal, Head of the Civil Engineering Department.
The importance of concepts such as rainwater conservation, solid waste management, and digital literacy was elaborated during the event. Dr Awasarmal said, "Water conservation and waste management are essential for the holistic development of villages and for maintaining sustainable environmental balance. Villagers should implement these concepts, and students should actively participate in these initiatives." On the very first day of the camp, groups of students were formed, and various activities were carried out as per planning.
District NSS Coordinator Pathrikar provided in-depth information about the history, objectives, and significance of the NSS in society. The sarpanch Girhe assured the students of full cooperation and emphasized the active participation of villagers for the success of the camp. Dr. Patil, the president, urged students to seize the opportunity to bring about change in society by serving wholeheartedly during the camp. The programme was conducted by student Samruddhi Gore. For the success of the camp, Madhuri Patil and Anand Kardile made significant efforts. NSS Coordinator Rajesh Patil proposed a vote of thanks to the dignitaries and students for their participation.
