Aurangabad, March 2:

The number of Novel coronavirus patients has crossed 200 mark in Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) while 150 patients were admitted in District Civil Hospital (DCH).

With the rise in the number of pandemic patients, the Out-Patients Department (OPD) and Maternity ward services were stopped.

The GMCH has 41 patients on February 1, while it rose to 218 on March 2. Of them, 90 patients’ condition is stated to be critical. Also, 26 patients whose test report was negative are undergoing treatment in the Government Hospital. Critical patients' figure is high in GMCH, where patients are referred from Rural and private hospitals and other districts.

The patients' number crossed the 200 mark in just one month. Besides Super Speciality Building, the treatment facility at Medicine Department was also resumed. The Maternity ward was started in DCH a few days ago. A total of 15 babies birth was reported in the hospital.

But, the service was stopped because of the rising COVID patients number. Additional district civil surgeon Dr Kamlakar Mudkhedkar said that OPD and maternity ward services were halted to treat pandemic patients.
