Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:
A highly unusual and tragic accident occurred on Wednesday at around 12 noon near Soygaon Devi on the Sillod–Bhokardan Road. The rear two wheels of a moving 10-tyre lorry suddenly detached and struck a motorcyclist travelling behind. The rider, who was seriously injured in the incident, died while being taken for treatment. The deceased has been identified as Raju Baburao Dudhe (48), a resident of Khodkaiwadi in Sillod tehsil.
Dudhe was travelling on his motorcycle (MH 20 GA 7075) from Sillod towards Bhokardan to attend work at a private company. At the same time, a loading lorry (RJ 02 GC 6061) was proceeding ahead of him towards Jalna. Suddenly, the axle of the moving lorry broke, causing the two rear tyres to come off and collide with Dudhe’s motorcycle at speed. The force of the impact threw him off the vehicle, resulting in severe head and bodily injuries.
Local residents immediately alerted the police. Dudhe was first admitted to the Rural Hospital in Bhokardan. However, as his condition was critical, doctors advised that he be shifted to the District Hospital in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. Tragically, he succumbed to his injuries near Phulambri while being transported by ambulance.
Case registered against lorry driver
A case has been registered against the lorry driver at Bhokardan Police Station, and the police have seized the vehicle. The deceased, Raju Dudhe, is survived by his wife, mother, two daughters and a son. His last rites were performed at 7 pm on Wednesday at the cremation ground in Khodkaiwadi in a sombre atmosphere.
