Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has established a Covid Hospital at Meltron Company at Chikalthana Industrial area for providing free treatment to the Corona patients. However, the patients for the past few days have to purchase expensive medicines from the medicine shops. Similarly, they have to conduct CT Scan and lab tests from private laboratories. The relatives of the poor patients face severe inconvenience as they have to spend around Rs 30,000 per patient.
‘Remdesivir’ injection is considered as an effective medicine for Covid-19 patients. However, these injections can be obtained only from the selected medical stores in the city. Similarly, Pipso, MP 80, Anoxoprime and other tablets are also needed for treating Corona patients. However, AMC is having scarcity of injections and tablets. Hence, the relatives of the patients have to purchase it from outside. Similarly, the patients are sent to specific labs and hospitals for conducting CT scan tests and the patients incurred Rs 2,500 expense for the test. It has been observed that the patients are referred to a specific private hospital for test and the hospital has so far conducted tests amounting to Rs 7.5 lakh, the sources said.
CT Scan facility is available at District Civil Hospital (DCH), which is very near to the Meltrol Covid Hospital but the patients are not referred here.
CEO of Meltron Covid Care Hospital, Nandkishor Bhombe said, complaints have been received regarding the medicines and tests of the patients from the private hospitals. The administration has taken note of it and it has been discussed with the medical officer as well, he said.
