PSI arrested for demanding bribe
Aurangabad, Dec 11:
The anti-corruption bureau (ACB) arrested a PSI of the Aurangabad City Police headquarters for demanding Rs 6,000 per month for not changing their night shift. The court has remanded him in the Harsul Jail in juridical custody.
The accused PSI has been identified as Rajkumar Uttamrao Chandane (58). According to the details, the complainant police constables are working at the police headquarters. Chandane works here as a reserved PSI. The complainants wanted the night shift, but they were given day shifts. They requested Chandane to provide them with night shift, but he demanded Rs 6,000 per month. As the constables were unwilling to give the bribe, they lodged a complaint against Chandane at the ACB. On December 8, the ACB deputy superintendent Rupchand Waghmare and employees checked the complaints and found that the accused has demanded the bribe. As Chandane was suspicious that a complaint was lodged against him, he did not accept the bribe. However, as it was proved that he had demanded the bribe, a case was registered against him at the Begumpura police station on Friday. The ACP police produced him before the court, and he was remanded in judicial custody and sent to Harsul prison.
PSI Chandane was on the verge of retirement and was going to be retired after a few months. Chandne took charge as the reserved PSI recently and started demanding bribes to the police employees, the sources said.
