Aurangabad, Feb 26: In a historic achievement for the Aurangabad branch of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI), a branch student CA Sudarshan Maharshi has topped the Company Secretary (CS, professional) examination nationally. CA (now CS also) Sudarshan, who scored 552 out of 900 marks, has become the first student from Aurangabad branch to be a national topper.
Speaking to Lokmat Times after his bright success, unassuming youngster said he was happy that his hard work and dedication had paid off. “After clearing the CA examination in May 2016, my plan was to do a job in corporate sector. Thinking that an additional qualification will give me an edge in career growth, I turned to CS. I worked in two companies but later quit to concentrate on the CS examination. Forced holiday due to Covid proved as a blessing in disguise as I could study for 10 to 12 hours a day,’’ Sudarshan said.
He opined that skills of writing paper and presentation are important and experience of CA examination proved handy him this time. Subject of financial management is his favourite since CA days and he has scored maximum (79/100) marks in it in CS (Professional) also.Maharshi is a student of Shri Guru Teg Bahadur School and did his B Com (Deogiri College) and M Com (Saraswati Bhuvan College) from Aurangabad itself. Studied ICSI module, not skipped single section Delighted Sudarshan said that he did not vie for any rank but was resolved to thoroughly study the entire CS syllabus without skipping any portion. “My aim was to be ready to answer any question asked. Improvement and perfection were my targets,’’ the topper said adding he did not join any coaching class, concentrated on self study and read the ICSI modules to prepare for the examination. Both CS, CA exams in first attempt, Sudarshan had passed all three stages of CA examination in the first attempt, appearing in all groups simultaneously. He repeated the feat in CS examination also. For CS (Professional) he appeared in all three groups (total 9 papers) simultaneously. Considering the vast syllabus and the fact that there are no gap days during the exams, it is a praiseworthy effort.
