A 14-month-old baby, Shon Bobde, has successfully undergone a rare and complex surgery at Totla Hospital. Weighing only eight kilograms, the baby was diagnosed with a severe condition called 'Grade 5 Vesicoureteral Reflux,' where both urinary valves were damaged, causing urine to flow backwards from both kidneys since birth.

The condition was first detected during prenatal sonography, and after birth, the baby suffered from frequent infections and falling ill. Doctors, after a thorough examination, determined that a supra major surgery was necessary. The surgery lasted three hours and was successfully completed without the need for ICU care. The baby is now recovering well and has returned home. A senior pediatric surgeon and urologist Dr R. J. Totla, stressed the importance of early diagnosis and the need for specialized care for such conditions. Dr Kanavte from Loha, Nanded, first diagnosed the rare condition. Dr Totla, along with urologist Dr Martand Patil, anaesthetist Dr Shrigopal Bhattad, Dr Santosh Rajgopal Totla, and the hospital staff, worked tirelessly to ensure the success of the operation. The baby is now fully recovered, leaving the family and medical team relieved and hopeful for the future.
