Aurangabad, Oct 14:

The road leading to the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) from Begumpura was finally closed on Wednesday. Police bandobast was deployed on the spot given the possibility of opposition to closing this route.

Collector Sunil Chavan and commissioner of police Dr Nikhil Gupta had visited the GMCH to review the security arrangements and related issues. An unauthorized road was constructed by breaking the protective wall to get to and from Begumpura area in the GMCH. This route was also inspected by the officials. They had instructed this route to be closed immediately, as well as in places where protective walls have been breached.

The district collector had instructed the engineers of the public works department to close down the gaps. Accordingly, the road was finally closed and the paths constructed through the protective wall were also closed. Sub-divisional officer Dr Gyanoba Banapure, Dean Dr Kanan Yelikar, deputy dean Dr Kailash Zine, Medical superintendent Dr Suresh Harbade, Dr Vikas Rathod inspected the work.
