Robbery, then Murder: Friend stabbed 10-12 times at liquor spot, 100 metres from police station

A 25-year-old youth, Kishor Hiwale (25, Rajnagar), was robbed, made to consume alcohol, and then stabbed to death by his associates on Thursday afternoon at a liquor spot in Mukundwadi vegetable market, barely 100 metres from Mukundwadi police station.

The victim was stabbed 10–12 times around 1 pm and died on the spot. His body lay in blood for nearly 30 minutes, triggering panic and forcing shops to shut immediately. The arrested accused has been identified as Datta Rokde (38, Masantpur, Shahanagar), Shubham ranshur alias baddya (19, Masantpur), and Kantilal bhuigal (55, Masantpur) .

How the crime unfolded

Kishor had returned from Ashti recently. He left home around 9 am and later reached API Corner, where he and the accused clashed with trader Sharma. Datta allegedly robbed cash and clothes from Sharma, who gave Rs 500 and garments under pressure. Kishor allegedly damaged goods at the spot. Later, Datta took Kishor to Mukundwadi market on a motorcycle, where they consumed alcohol. A dispute over the earlier incident escalated, and the accused stabbed him repeatedly using the same knife, killing him on the spot.

Panic and delayed response

ACP Manish Kalyankar and police inspector Sachin Ingole reached the spot after the incident, but the forensic team arrived only at 4.30 pm about 3.5 hours late by which time the crime scene was disturbed.

• Datta- Arrested after being traced to a relative’s house.

• Shubham and Kantilal- Intercepted while fleeing the city by MIDC Cidco police led by assistant inspector Bharat Pachole.

Criminal background and probe

Datta Rokde has over eight serious cases including robbery, attempt to murder, assault, molestation and dacoity in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and Jalna. He was earlier detained under MPDA and externed in 2021. Shubham also has multiple cases. Police are also probing an extortion angle linked to trader Sharma, who allegedly gave money and clothes under pressure earlier in the day, filed a complaint, but left mid-statement. Investigations are underway into his possible role in the escalation.
