Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: After the clash in Nagpur on Monday over the issue of exhuming Aurangzeb's tomb, the rural police increased security in Khuldabad on Tuesday. Barricades have been placed on the road leading to the Mughal emperor’s tomb, and the police are thoroughly interrogating the tourists coming to visit the tomb.

The Aurangzeb issue has created a major uproar across the state, with some Hindutva organisations threatening to dig up and throw away the tomb in Khuldabad. This led to a clash in Nagpur on Monday. Following this, local police have deployed tight security around the dargah area near the tomb on Tuesday as a precautionary measure.

This includes three police inspectors, 30 constables, 50 SRPF personnel, and 80 Home Guard jawans. Barricades have been placed on the major roads entering the city, and the police are interrogating individuals and vehicles passing through. Some tourists are still visiting the tomb, and after thorough checks, the police are allowing them entry. During this time, the police verify each person's name, number, and Aadhaar card, and record the details in their register. Notably, the police have imposed a ban on carrying mobile phones in the tomb area.

The number of tourists has decreased. Tourists and devotees who usually visit the Ellora Caves and Khuldabad to see Aurangzeb's tomb, especially for that purpose, have reduced significantly in number due to the atmosphere created by the Aurangzeb issue in the last 20 days. On Sunday, 70 tourists visited, on Monday 60, and by 12 pm on Tuesday, only 9 tourists had visited, as recorded in the police register.
