Shahu Maharaj contributed to eradicating the caste system

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: “Caste and religion have been intertwined in India. In the fight to eradicate caste, ordinary activists as well as rulers have done a lot of work for the eradication of caste. Among them, Rajarshi Shahu Maharaj has made a great contribution to the eradication of caste for the first time in India,” asserted history researcher Dr Arun Wahul.

He was speaking in Rajarshi Shahu Lecture Series on Caste Struggle and Rajarshi Shahu Maharaj’s organised jointly by the Department of History and Ancient Indian Culture and the Student Welfare Board of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University recently.

Dr Satish Dandge presided over the function. Head of the Department Dr Gitanjali Borade and convenor Dr Pushpa Gaikwad were present.

He said Rajarshi Shahu Maharaj had done the work of educating thousands of students from those educational institutions and making them good people.
