A shocking incident that has brought disgrace to familial ties occurred at Maniknagar in Sillod taluka on Friday around 4.30 pm. A 50-year-old man was beaten to death allegedly by his own brother and nephew after he tried to stop them from molesting his wife.
The deceased has been identified as Prakash Mohite (50, Maniknagar). Sillod Rural Police arrested the main accused, his brother Sanjay Asaram Mohite, on Saturday at around 8 pm. According to police sources, Sanjay Mohite and his nephew Anil Manohar Mohite allegedly had inappropriate intentions towards Prakash Mohite’s wife, leading to frequent disputes within the family. On Friday (April 3), at around 4:30 pm, Prakash had taken his daughter to a hospital. Taking advantage of his absence, the two accused allegedly entered the house and molested the woman. When Prakash returned home and attempted to rescue his wife, the accused allegedly assaulted him brutally. They reportedly sat on his chest and punched him repeatedly, leading to a fatal heart attack on the spot. After the assault, the accused allegedly pretended that Prakash had merely fallen unconscious and took him to a private hospital in Sillod. However, upon realising from the doctors’ response that he had died, both fled the hospital. Acting swiftly, the police launched a manhunt and arrested Sanjay Mohite from the Bhavan area on Saturday night.
