Aurangabad, Oct 18:

Several works of excavating silt, deepening and widening was done through the Jalyukta Shivar Scheme in the Marathwada region. In all, 720.39 lakh cubic meter silt was excavated through the people’s participation during the scheme. The amount of the work is Rs 518.69 crores, of which the works from people’s participation worth Rs 229.78 crores.

The work of excavating silf from several dams, lakes and rivers was done in the Marathwada region. In the first year of the scheme in 2015-16, the government machinery excavated 185.45 lakh cubic meter silt and 255.54 lakh cubic meter silt from the people’s participation in the same year.

In 2016-17, 144.50 lakh cubic meter silt was excavated from various projects through people’s participation and 1.22 lakh cubic meter during 2017-18.

Under Jalyukt Shivar Scheme, silt was excavated from 6020 selected villages from 2015-16 to 2018-18. These included 4,414 works through the government machinery and 2,679 through people’s participation. The works amounted Rs 518.69 crores, as per the government records.
