Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar

The district soil and water conservation officer's office has finally been relocated to the dilapidated building of the maharashtra jeevan pradhikaran in Shantipura, within the cantonment area. Earlier, the offices of the District Soil and Water Conservation Officer and the Water Conservation Vigilance Officer were situated on the Gajanan Maharaj Temple to Trimurti Chowk Road.

Two years ago, a decision was made to allocate this space to the Sarathi organization. Following this, construction of a hostel for Maratha girls has been ongoing at a rapid pace for the past year. In light of this, both office heads of the Water Conservation Department were served notices to relocate elsewhere. Subsequently, the Vigilance Department office was shifted to WALMI (Water and Land Management Institute). However, no institution was willing to provide space for the District Soil and Water Conservation Officer’s office. Even WALMI refused to accommodate them. Finally, the Maharashtra Jeevan Pradhikaran agreed to offer its abandoned, dilapidated building in Shantipura, which had been vacated two years ago. The Soil and Water Conservation Department has now been relocated to this building. However, the condition of the structure is highly unsafe and at risk of collapse at any time, posing a serious threat to the officials and staff working there. Additionally, the Waqf Board has also laid claim to ownership of the land on which the building stands.
