Frequent power cuts have left Ladsawangi villagers struggling for water, receiving supply only once in 15 days. Now, a solar-powered water pump promises relief.

The gram panchayat installed a 10 hp solar panel and pump, completing the project on Sunday. By 1 pm, water flowed into the government well, and supply through taps will begin on Monday. This marks a major shift, as the village will now get water every two days instead of waiting for two weeks. Ladsawangi relies on the Babuwadi Dam, but limited electricity and erratic power cuts disrupted the water supply. The solar pump will run for 10 hours daily, while grid electricity provides eight hours, ensuring a total of 18 hours of water pumping. The project cost Rs 10 lakh, and the Gram Panchayat urges villagers to pay water taxes to sustain the system. “Providing services without revenue is impossible,” said Sarpanch Meera Ramesh Shinde.
