Aurangabad, Feb 1:

In the backdrop of the three fatal accidents on the Beed By-pass road in the past one week, the Commissioner of Police Dr Nikhil Gupta with the officers of the traffic branch visited and inspected the Beed By-pass Road on Monday. He has taken the decision to implement like speed limit, joining the broken dividers and helmet compulsion on the Beed By-pass road.

On January 25, a truck dashed a motorcycle near Godavari Tee-point in which a six years old girl died. Her parents and younger sister was injured in the accident. On January 27, two cousins were killed under a speeding truck near Naiknagar. A 55 years old watchman going on a bicycle was dashed by a truck on January 31 due to which he died.

Taking cognizance of the increased accidents on Beed By-pass road, CP, Dr Gupta, DCP Meena Makwana, ACP Suresh Wankhede, PI Mukund Deshmukh, PI Surendra Malale, API Ghansham Sonawane, PWD officers and local residents inspected the road. Dr Gupta inspected various places including Mahanubhav Ashram Chowk, MIT Chowk, Godavari Tee point, Deolai Chowk, Balapur Phata.

Dr Gupta said, the Beed By-pass road was inspected so that safety measures can be adopted to reduce the accidents. After the issue of the service road is resolved, the two-wheelers can use it. The broken dividers are causing accidents and hence it will be joined again. Similarly, speed breakers will be constructed wherever required. A meeting will be held with the officers of the concerned departments for it. Beed By-pass is a highway and hence helmet will be made compulsory for the two-wheeler rider, he said.
