SIR: Burden of Election Work on Teachers
Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: A large number of teachers have been appointed as Booth Level Officers (BLO)
under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) programme of the voter list currently underway in the State.
However, with SSC answer sheet evaluation, annual examinations, and result preparation currently in progress in schools, teachers have become extremely stressed due to this additional workload.
Most teachers in many schools have been assigned BLO responsibilities, requiring them to go door-to-door for tasks such as mapping, voter registration, deletion of names, and Aadhaar linking. This has a major impact on classroom teaching and examination planning.
Teachers have expressed their feelings, saying, "We are caught in a double bind, on one side is the educational future of our children, and on the other is the national duty of elections."
The administration should urgently find a solution by appointing employees from other departments instead of teachers, so that the academic loss to students can be avoided.
