Severe hailstorms, strong winds, and heavy rain lashed Soygaon, Sillod, and Kannad tehsils on Wednesday, confirming forecasts and causing massive crop losses.
In Soygaon tehsil, Jarandi, Nimbaiti, Bahulkheda, and Dhingapur were hit by nearly an hour of hail between 6.30 pm and 7.30 pm, with Jarandi witnessing it twice. Nimbaiti and Dhingapur suffered 100% loss of Rabi crops like jowar, bajra, maize, and onion, with hail-covered fields and roof damage reported; Fardapur also saw intense rain. Kannad tehsil witnessed heavy rain with thunder, disrupting the Nagapur weekly market. With harvesters in short supply, large quantities of wheat remain unharvested and at risk, prompting farmers to seek immediate surveys and compensation.
