A 17-year-old boy drowned in a pond in Sharanapur after misjudging its depth on Saturday at 2 pm.

The deceased has been identified as Ajay Sanjay Misre (Vanjarwadi, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar). According to the police, Ajay had gone to the farm at 10 am to graze goats and took them to drink water from the pond in Sharanapur. He then jumped into the pond but misjudged the depth and drowned. As soon as the villagers, relatives, and police learned about the incident, they rushed to the spot. Some young men used mobile flashlights and torches to search for Ajay in the pond. After a long effort, they pulled him out at 8 pm and took him to GMCH in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, where doctors declared him dead. A case of accidental death has been registered at the Daulatabad police station.
