A rise in petty theft cases has been reported in the city, with incidents of chain snatching, vehicle thefts, and break-ins at shops and houses occurring frequently.
On 25 April, four separate theft cases were registered across different police stations, posing a challenge for police. Near Imperial Lawns, GS iron shop of Mohammad Abdul Gaffar Siddiqui was broken into and Rs 29,200 cash and valuables were stolen. The incident occurred on the night of 23 April and a case was registered at Jinsi police station. At Bajrang Chowk, Rukhmanbai Ankush Kharat’s pan stall was broken into after the lock was forced open, with goods worth Rs 5,060 stolen. A case was registered at Cidco police station. In Chimnapurwadi shivar of Jatwada area, one bull was stolen from a farm in the night of 22 April. A case was registered at Harsul police station based on the complaint of Babulal Bandu Ghanvat. In Gajanan Colony, Garkheda, thieves entered a house through a window and stole four mobile phones and silver ornaments worth Rs 75,000. The incident occurred in the early hours of 25 April and a case was registered at the Pundliknagar police station.
