Traders demand action against unauthorised handcarts
Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:
Local residents and traders have demanded action against hundreds of unauthorised handcarts operating at night between Gandhi Putla and City Chowk. At a meeting held on Thursday evening, they expressed strong resentment and urged authorities to remove what they described as an unregulated night market from the road.
Participants alleged that handcarts are being set up on Sarafa Road through force and intimidation, leading to severe traffic congestion and inconvenience to shopkeepers and commuters. Traders also demanded action against those who are allegedly renting out space in front of their shops to handcart vendors.
During the meeting, the traders contacted mayor Sameer Rajurkar over the phone and raised the issue. He assured them that the matter would be addressed within two days.
Corporators Sachin Khaire and Rushi Jaiswal, along with several traders including Laxminarayan Rathi and Sunil Agrawal, were present at the meeting. About 50 traders from the area attended the discussion.
