Two minor girls reunited under ‘Operation Muskan’

In a swift operation under ‘Operation Muskan’, the Paithan police rescued and reunited two minor girls, aged 15 and 16, who had gone missing from the Shahagad Road area on January 9 following family and marriage-related disputes. On Thursday night, the girls were safely brought back from Madhya Pradesh and handed over to their parents.

Acting promptly, superintendent of police Dr Vinaykumar Rathod constituted a special team led by police inspector Mahadev Gomare and police sub-inspector Sambhaji Khade. Based on confidential inputs, one girl was traced to Harda district and the other to Khalwa in Khandwa district, Madhya Pradesh. The team crossed state borders and safely rescued both girls, bringing them back to Paithan on Thursday night. During inquiry, the girls stated they had voluntarily left home. As per Child Welfare Committee orders, they were handed over to their mother. Police sub-inspector Sambhaji Khade, constable Vilas Sukhdan, and woman constable Komal Kotkar played key roles in the operation. Describing Operation Muskan as a sensitive mission, SP Dr Rathod said ensuring the safe return of every missing child is the police’s top priority, while police inspector Gomare appealed to citizens to immediately approach the police in such cases.
