Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: Stefan Priesner, the United Nations Resident Coordinator in India, visited the Ellora Caves on Sunday and spent as many as five hours conducting an in-depth study of the caves.

He was particularly overwhelmed by the grandeur of the Kailasa Temple. Priesner carefully observed the various cave structures, sculptures, and architectural features of the Ellora Caves.

He showed special interest in learning about the history and artistry behind each sculpture. He gathered information from the guide and also captured photographs at several locations. Guide Dr Subhash Jadhav provided detailed information about the caves.

Regional Deputy Director of Tourism, Vijay Jadhav, and Tourism Assistant, Dr Shivaji Gaikwad, were also present on the occasion.

Tajindersingh Gulati and Dr Subhash Jadhav from the Tourist Guide Federation of India welcomed Stefan Priesner by presenting him with replicas of the Padmapani from Ajanta and the Kailasa Temple from the Ellora Caves.
