The Vaijapur MIDC project, announced 25 years ago, is finally moving forward. On April 3, MIDC laid a board on 426 hectares of acquired land, formally reviving the project. Meetings with farmers will soon determine compensation rates.

EV companies like Toyota, JSW, and Ather Energy have announced projects, prompting investors to line up. Entrepreneurs have requested around 8,000 acres, leading MIDC to plan development of various district industrial estates. Of the 436 hectares acquired, some farmers have been compensated, while over 100 have filed court claims seeking higher amounts. MIDC officials, with local representatives, will meet these farmers to negotiate and request case withdrawals. Located on Samruddhi Highway, 20 km from Kopargaon, Vaijapur serves as Marathwada’s entry point. Its development is expected to boost taluka economic growth, attract 100–150 local entrepreneurs, and create youth employment opportunities.
