Aurangabad, Nov 3:

As garbage is not picked up early by the municipal corporation, vendors at Shahgunj vegetable market are no option but sit beside the trash and sell vegetables and fruits. This has created serious concerns for public health.

The Shahgunj vegetable market was demolished by the Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) in the name of development. Hence the vendors started selling vegetables besides the old bazaar. As per the corporation, this market is unauthorized. As a result, the corporation is neglecting the cleanliness here. The vendors said that the sanitary workers do not pick the garbage around the market for two to four days. The waste decomposes and spreads bad stench. The vendors and customers have to bear the stench in the market every day. Due to lack of space, sellers are forced to sit on the pile of garbage. Flies sit on vegetables and fruits. Consumers also have to buy vegetables in such conditions. This has increased the risk of spreading the disease here during the corona period. Many vendors fall sick and have to stop business. The vendors have demanded that the municipal administrator should pay attention to the issue of sanitation and also to the development of the space.
