Voting to elect the heads of the zilla parishad (mini ministry) and panchayat samiti will be held across the district on February 7, from 7.30 am to 5.30 pm, at 2,282 polling stations spread over 63 zilla parishad groups (gut) and 126 panchayat samiti constituencies (gan). As many as 54 polling stations in the district have been classified as highly sensitive. Of these, 34 are in Sillod, 16 in Kannad, and 4 in Vaijapur, where strict monitoring will be maintained to ensure law and order.
The administration has made arrangements for 18,73,054 voters to exercise their franchise at the 2,282 polling stations. Engineers from the concerned company have been appointed in the district to address any technical issues related to EVMs during polling.
Where is the maximum administrative machinery deployed?
Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar tehsil has the highest number of constituencies in the district, with 10 zilla parishad groups and 20 panchayat samiti constituencies, and a total of 354 polling stations. The number of field officers deployed here will also be higher, with 40 officers appointed for the election process.
2,489 Postal ballots
A total of 2,489 postal ballots have been issued across nine tehsils of the district. Of these, 1,907 voters are local, while 582 voters are from other tehsils. Sillod has the highest number of postal ballots at 558. The process of postal voting has been underway for the past two days.
