ZP & PS elections: Voting to done on Feb 7, counting on Feb 9

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: The election of the Zilla Parishad (ZP) and Panchayat Samiti (PS) were postponed by two days. The administration has completed its preparations for the elections. The election campaign was halted for two days because of the period of mourning declared by the government.

So, there was speculation that the voting and counting process would be delayed. The Election Commission announced today that the voting for the ZP and PS elections would be held on February 7, and the counting of votes would be done on February 9.

Meanwhile, the voting process for the elections will be completed using EVMs from Nanded, Hingoli, Madhya Pradesh, and Dharashiv.

District Collector Deelip Swami said that voting would now be held at 2282 polling stations in 63 gats and 126 gans in the district from 7.30 am to 5.30 pm on February 7. In view of the elections, the training of presiding officers and polling officers will be conducted on January 30. Arrangements for strongrooms have been finalised at eight locations. Candidates will get two additional days for campaigning.

The highest number of gats (10) and gans (20) are in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar tehsil. The tehsil has 354 polling stations. The number of field officers will also be higher. A total of 40 officers will be deployed for the election process. There are 2489 postal votes in the 9 tehsils f the district. This includes 1907 local voters and 582 voters from other tehsils. Sillod has the highest number of postal votes (558).

Venue for vote counting
