A power packed cameo by Andre Russell allowed Kolkata Knight Riders to end their first innings against Delhi Capitals on a decent 154 after 20 overs. Russell's counter attack pushed KKR past the 150-run mark which otherwise looked difficult. Once again it was the batsman who failed to convert their starts as KKR were 69/1 in the 10th over but all that was wasted within the space of a few overs.

The mini-collapse crippled the Knight Riders and if not for Russell's late blitz, the total would have cut a sorry figure. 42 came off the last three overs. Andre Russell's  two sixes and a four off Rabada in the penultimate over allowed KKR to finish their batting on a high. Earlier, Rishabh Pant-led Delhi Capitals won the toss and opted to field. Delhi Capitals is at the third spot in the points table with 8 points from 6 games while KKR is at the fifth position with 4 points from as many games.
