The BCCI is looking at holding IPL 2020 between September 26 and November 8, according to media reports. The tentative schedule is said to have been arrived at during a meeting held on Friday. However,  the host broadcaster is reported to have expressed disappointment as it wants the dates to be extended till November 14 to coincide with the Diwali weekend. 

Diwali is on November 14 and the broadcaster is hoping to cashing in that weekend through more advertisements to make up for the financial hit the coronavirus pandemic has caused. As per reports, UAE remains one of the top contenders to host IPL 2020 if the tournament is shifted outside India. As per BCCI's current tentative schedule, 60 games of the season will be played inside 44 days. The T20 World Cup is likely to be postponed which will open up a window for the IPL to be conducted.The IPL governing council is yet to agree to the dates. A decision on the T20 World Cup can be announced on Monday after the ICC board meeting.
