The veteran all-rounder had also missed Rajasthan Royals’ previous game against Delhi Capitals, where RR suffered a five-wicket defeat after failing to capitalise on key moments with both bat and ball.
While captain Riyan Parag initially cited workload management as the reason behind Jadeja’s absence in the Delhi match, stand-in skipper Yashasvi Jaiswal confirmed before the LSG clash that the all-rounder is currently recovering from niggles.
“Jadu bhai is recovering. He has some niggles, but he will be fine soon,” Jaiswal said at the toss.
Parag himself missed the match because of a hamstring injury, with Jaiswal taking over captaincy duties for the crucial fixture.
“He had some hamstring injury and he will be fine soon, I hope so. So, he is not playing this game,” Jaiswal added.
Rajasthan Royals made three changes to the playing XI, bringing in Sandeep Sharma, Sushant Mishra and Lhuan-dre Pretorius for the must-win encounter.
Jadeja has played an important role for RR this season after joining the franchise in a pre-season trade. The 37-year-old has scored 190 runs in 11 matches at an average of 47.50 and a strike rate of 133.80. He has also taken eight wickets with an economy rate of 7.84.
The match holds major playoff significance for Rajasthan Royals, who remain in a must-win situation to keep their qualification hopes alive in IPL 2026. Lucknow Super Giants, meanwhile, have already been eliminated from playoff contention and will look to end their campaign on a positive note.
