Australian fast bowler Mitchell Starc and England star batsman Joe Root have decided to withdraw their name from the upcoming Indian Premier League 2020 auction. Starc last featured in the IPL in 2015 where he was part of the Royal Challengers Bangalore setup. 

The 29-year old fast bowler was signed by the Kolkata Kinight Riders for 9.4 crore, but missed the entire tournament because of an injury. Meanwhile, the latest development comes after the injury prone cricketer opted to give his red ball career priority. The other notable absentee from the auction pool is England's Test captain Joe Root. 

According to reports,  England's premier batsman was in the wishlist of many franchises. Amoing the other big names in the auction list is Glen Maxwell, Chris Lynn, Chris Morris, and Angelo Mathews. The auction is slated to be held on December 19th in Kolkata and all the franchises are expected to give the shortlisted names for the auction by December 9.
