WPL Retention 2026: The Women’s Premier League franchises announced their retained players ahead of the upcoming WPL 2026 mega auction.  Defending champions Mumbai Indians retained five players. The list includes captain Harmanpreet Kaur and England all-rounder Nat Sciver-Brunt. Royal Challengers Bengaluru kept skipper Smriti Mandhana along with three other players. Delhi Capitals retained Jemimah Rodrigues and Shafali Verma while releasing captain Meg Lanning. Gujarat Giants retained just two players, Ashleigh Gardner and Beth Mooney. UP Warriorz retained only Shweta Sehrawat, letting go of stars including all-rounder Deepti Sharma and Alyssa Healy. Mandhana of RCB and Sciver-Brunt of MI are the costliest retentions at 3.5 crore each.

Retained players:

  • Mumbai Indians: (Rs 2.5 crore), Nat Sciver-Brunt (Rs 3.5 crore), Hayley Matthews (Rs 1.75 crore), Amanjot Kaur (Rs 1 crore), G Kamalini (Rs 50 lakh)

  • Royal Challengers Bengaluru: Smriti Mandhana (Rs 3.5 crore), Ellyse Perry (Rs 2 crore), Richa Ghosh (Rs 2.75 crore), Shreyanka Patil (Rs 60 lakh)

  • Delhi Capitals: Jemimah Rodrigues (Rs 2.2 crore), Shafali Verma (Rs 2.2 crore), Marizanne Kapp (Rs 2.2 crore), Annabel Sutherland (Rs 2.2 crore), Niki Prasad (Rs 50 lakh)

  • Gujarat Giants: Ash Gardner (Rs 3.5 crore), Beth Mooney (Rs 2.5 crore)

  • UP Warriorz: Shweta Sehrawat (Rs 50 lakh)

Among the big names released by franchises are Deepti Sharma, Meg Lanning, Sophie Ecclestone and Amelia Kerr. These players are expected to attract high bids at the auction.

Remaining auction purse and RTM:RCB Rs 6.15 crore, 1 RTM (uncapped or overseas); MI Rs 5.7 crore, no RTM; DC Rs 5.7 crore, no RTM; GG Rs 9 crore, 3 RTMs (Two Indian capped and one uncapped); UPW Rs 14.5 crore, 4 RTMs (Two Indian capped and two overseas).
