The ninth installment of the high-octane actioner "Fast & Furious" starring Vin Diesel, John Cena and Cardi B among others is all set to release theatrically in India on August 5, it was announced on Thursday. The Justin Lin directorial also stars Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Jordana Brewster, Chris Bridges (Ludacris), Nathalie Emmanuel, Helen Mirren, Ozuna and Charlize Theron. Universal Pictures have announced the release date of the franchise on Thursday. It will be released in English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada languages.The ninth instalment has already been released in the US, Canada, China, Russia, Korea, Hong Kong, and the Middle East. 

However, the release of the film was pushed in India due to the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic. The action movie premiered in South Korea in May and released on June 25 in North America. The official synopsis of Fast and Furious 9 reads, "Vin Diesel’s Dom Toretto is leading a quiet life off the grid with Letty and his son, little Brian, but they know that danger always lurks just over their peaceful horizon. This time, that threat will force Dom to confront the sins of his past if he’s going to save those he loves the most. His crew joins together to stop a world-shattering plot led by the most skilled assassin and high-performance driver they’ve ever encountered: a man who also happens to be Dom’s forsaken brother, Jakob (John Cena, the upcoming The Suicide Squad)."
